SYSTRA is providing its expertise on safe operation for two experimental driverless shuttle buses in urban and suburban areas.

The SAM project (Safety and Acceptability of autonomous driving and Mobility) aims to pool technical and academic knowledge on the safety, acceptability and environmental and socio-economic impacts of autonomous mobility in France.

It is part of the call for proposals by the EVRA project (Experimental Autonomous Road Vehicles) launched in June 2018 by ADEME (French Agency for Ecological Transition) and brings together a consortium of stakeholders from industry, research bodies and local partners, including RATP.

As part of this project, SYSTRA is supporting RATP with two experiments involving driverless shuttle buses:

  • Interconnection of Gare d’Austerlitz, Gare de Lyon and Gare de Bercy in Paris: in a dense urban environment, SYSTRA provided expert advice on risk analysis and carried out a system safety assessment.

  • First/last mile connections in suburban and rural areas at Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse: SYSTRA carried out risk and safety analyses of on-board systems on two routes, in preparation for the opening of the experiment to the public.
