This benefits not only passengers, but also the local community (including residents and businesses) and the environment. This concept will be illustrated using SYSTRA project case studies including an assessment of the social value of Tyne & Wear Metro stations, monitoring and evaluation of the Nottingham tram and the development of the new tram network in Bologna.

transcityrail midlands 2024

  • 29 February 2024
  • Birmingham

This year, the plans for 2024 on the Midland Main Line Electrification, HS2, East West Rail, Midlands Connect, Birmingham Curzon Street Station, station upgrades, freight rail improvement and much more will be discussed.

Our Market Director, Andrew Dugdale, will be speaking at the event on ‘where better journeys begin – making the case for 21st century connectivity’. It is commonly accepted that communities with better access to transport links perform better across almost every metric, including education, employment and Gross Value Added (GVA). The case for new transport links to act as the catalyst for generation doesn’t need to be built on the back of existing success areas. So, how can the Midlands Engine make the case for better transport links? And more importantly, how we can we, in the supply chain, learn global lessons to change how we deliver and make projects (such as Midlands Rail Hub, the Midlands metro expansion and TriLink) affordable in times of global fiscal pressure?

Conference – Andrew Dugdale (Market Director), Holly Wallace (Assistant Business Development Manager, Katie Webb (Cost Engineer), Ana Togridou (Nature Positive Discipline Lead), Dominic Baldwin (Project Professional)
Dinner – Andrew Dugdale (Market Director), Mike Muldoon (Business Development Director), Joe Botterill (Market Director), Charlotte Rogers (Staff Director), Shirel Stedman (Environmental Services Sales Director), Dominic Baldwin (Project Professional), Duncan Irons (Market Director), John Oldridge (Practice Director UK & Ireland), Steve Higham (Engineering Managing Director).
