Context

Senior Roads & Highways Engineer

Missions/Main Duties

  • Lead and coordinate the design and engineering of road and highway works associated with high-speed rail alignments, stations, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Assist in developing project schedules, budgets, scopes, and deliverables specific to roads and highways interfaces.
  • Oversee and monitor contractors and consultants ensuring quality, safety, and specifications are met.
  • Review, validate, and provide input on designs (alignments, intersections, interchanges, access roads, utilities coordination, etc.) ensuring optimal integration with rail systems.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
  • Provide innovative solutions to technical challenges, ensuring constructability and value engineering.
  • Liaise with government authorities, clients, contractors, and third parties for permits, approvals, and design reviews.
  • Represent the project team at client, authority, and public meetings as required.
  • Ensure all road and highway works conform to UAE codes, relevant international standards, and high-speed rail requirements.
  • Implement and monitor Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams.
  • Support the professional development of colleagues.

Profile/Skills

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering, or a related field.

Backround: 

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in roads and highways design and construction, with strong focus in rail or high-speed rail projects, preferably in the UAE or GCC.
  • Strong understanding of UAE / international road and railway engineering codes and standards (e.g., AASHTO, AREMA, DM, RTA, Ashghal).
  • Proven track record in multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-working skills.
  • Proficient in engineering design software (e.g., Civil 3D, InRoads, MX Road, MicroStation).
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
