Context

SYSTRA is seeking a highly experienced Earthing & Bonding (E&B) and Stray Current Engineer to spearhead innovative and safety-critical solutions for railway infrastructure projects, with a specialized focus on automated metro systems. This pivotal role involves ensuring earthing integrity, and stray current mitigation across the project lifecycle, enhancing the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our systems.

 

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with internal teams, consortium partners, civil work contractors, and third-party stakeholders to develop technical documentation, conduct advanced site measurements, and implement cutting-edge mitigation strategies. This position demands a strategic leader capable of anticipating and resolving complex E&B and stray current challenges, while driving compliance with international standards and project deliverables.

Missions/Main Duties

As a senior engineer, you will be entrusted with the following critical duties:

  • Proactive Issue Identification: Detect and address potential E&B and stray current issues early in the project lifecycle through risk assessments and predictive analysis, minimizing downstream impacts.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert guidance to the Technical Project Manager, offering specialized knowledge in E&B design, stray current corrosion prevention, and lightning protection systems.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Identify interfaces between E&B and stray current systems, ensuring seamless coordination with consortium partners, civil work teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Documentation and Analysis: Author and maintain authoritative principle documents, including calculation notes, earthing layouts, and stray current mitigation plans, supported by detailed simulations and field data.
  • Mitigation Strategies: Select and justify advanced mitigation measures, such as enhanced earthing configurations, corrosion-resistant materials, and optimized return circuits, tailored to project-specific conditions.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Quality team to verify the correct implementation of E&B and stray current rules during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Project Management: Ensure strict adherence to submittal schedules, leveraging established processes, methods, and tools to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Profile/Skills

Education: Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or related field. 

Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of experience in E&B system preferably on metro rail or large infrastructure projects. 

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge and background in earthing integrity, stray current mitigation across the project lifecycle and technical documentation.
  • Successful track record on rail and metro projects.
  • Ability to lead, develop and motivate a team.
  • Preferably with UAE experience, GCC experience would be advantageous.
