Context

In Saudi Arabia, SYSTRA has been ever present for more than 20 years and continues to expand and play its part in helping the Kingdom achieve its 2030 vision. With 400+ employees SYSTRA is involved in many of the Kingdoms iconic projects.

 

Within our Consulting business, we have an opportunity to establish a PMO to assist in the delivery of a regreneration programme within Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; within this scope we are looking for a BIM/GIS Manager to join this programme. 

 

The GIS and BIM Manager will be responsible for managing GIS and BIM activities and using GIS and BIM tools and data to and addressing planning and urban design aspects of development at all levels to support decision making within the programme. The role shall include use of GIS and BIM as core tools to create, gather, edit, and manage GIS and BIM data and to coordinate with the RPU team and the wider Urban Planning Department to ensure such information is fully utilized to support all levels and stages of urban and regional planning.

Missions/Main Duties

  • High level BIM management planning and design of virtual project collaboration systems to ensure integrity of design data and value through the BIM process including:
  • The use of BIM to inform the developing and updating of the design schedule within the Program Master Schedule and individual Project Schedules, and using the BIM to audit the design to key project phases, to ensure compliance to the Schedules.
  • Intelligent linking to project documentation, to a single-source of information – the project model.
  • QA/QC of modelled information to ensure data integrity.
  • Sustainability evaluation.
  • Incorporation of all sub-Consultant and all vendor information into the BIM models by direct input and implementation of collaboration protocols.
  • Development of the Project in BIM for all design Consultants to LOD 300, with data organisation so that it can be further developed to LOD 400/500 by the Contractors.
  • Use of 3D geometric information from all disciplines to perform virtual “walk-through” and clash detection for QA/QC of interdisciplinary coordination (inclusive of HSE and field monitoring, reporting).
  • Use of 5D (intelligent extraction of quantities, attribute information from the models to improve efficiency and accuracy of cost at key project stages, as well as Vendor stage BOQs.

Profile/Skills

  • 10+ years extensive experience in, and an understanding of, the development of GIS (primary requirement) and BIM systems (secondary requirement) on large multi-disciplinary mixed-use urban planning or urban development projects (residential, commercial, industrial, sports, marine etc.).
  • Fully experienced and proficient in the use of ESRI ArcGIS Pro software including data creation and editing, conversion, spatial analyses, topographic analyses, preparation of mapping presentations, etc.
  • Fully conversant with latest industry technology, using GIS/BIM capabilities to streamline workflows and incorporate smart solutions into project designs.
  • Must have excellent graphic skills and be capable of independent report production and graphic presentations.
  • Proven ability to implement design review strategy, problem-solve in real time and make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to build effective, professional relationships and trust with colleagues, and internal and external stakeholders alike.
  • Excellent communicator (verbal and written) and a good command of English and ability to present confidently to small and large groups.
  • Fully experienced and proficient in using specialist architectural and graphic design programs and applications, e.g., AutoCAD, BIM and graphic illustration software programs such as 3D Studio Max, Illustrator, In-Design preferred.
  • Fully experienced and proficient in Microsoft packages, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in a relevant design profession such as Master Planning / Urban Design / Architecture / Landscape Architecture / Engineering / Geography / Mapping Sciences, with additional education and/or professional accreditation in GIS and/or BIM systems.
  • Minimum 10 years' BIM-related experience working on large urban planning, multi-disciplinary projects, preferably in the Middle East.
  • Excellent communication skills, with high standard of English (oral and written)
