SYSTRA Limited is proud to support Dementia UK as its corporate charity in the UK for 2025. The charity, which supports families affected by dementia across the UK, was chosen in a vote by colleagues based at SYSTRA’s 11 offices in England and Scotland.

As well as a one-off donation on behalf of the company, colleagues are getting involved in a number of fundraising activities during the year.

These include the HS2 sublot 5 south project and design management team taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, and Alistair Brereton-Halls and Nick Ramsden running the Royal Parks Half Marathon.

Paul Morgan, Head of Legal for SYSTRA Limited, said: “We’re really proud to be supporting Dementia UK in 2025. We hope our donation will make a huge difference in providing help to those who need it, and we’re delighted to see so many of our colleagues supporting the charity, including some who have had direct contact with its services.”

Lucy Byrne, Lucy Byrne, Philanthropy and Partnerships Executive (Corporate) at Dementia UK, added: “We are grateful to everyone at SYSTRA Limited for their generous donation this year. It’s been great to see people take on a host of challenging fundraising activities, each of which will help us reach more families affected by dementia through our specialist Admiral Nurses offering life-changing practical and emotional support. We are proud to be SYSTRA’s Charity of the Year for 2025.”

‘Dementia’ is an umbrella term for a range of progressive conditions that affect the brain, such as Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and frontotemporal dementia. It mainly occurs in older people, but can also develop before the age of 65, when it is known as ‘young onset dementia’. Everyone will experience dementia in their own way, but common symptoms include difficulties with memory, decision-making and problem-solving; confusion; communication difficulties; and changes in behaviour and personality.

Nearly one million people in the UK are currently living with dementia, and one in two of us will be affected in our lifetime — by developing it ourselves, caring for someone with the diagnosis, or both.

Dementia UK’s specialist Admiral Nurses support families on its free Helpline, in virtual and face-to-face clinic appointments, and in communities across the UK. They provide free, practical advice and emotional support to help families care for their loved ones living with dementia.
