My role at SYSTRA
In my role as a Graduate Engineer (Highways), I play a crucial part in providing design support to the team and enhancing performance by ensuring smooth technical coordination and integration of highway designs.
My main tasks involve brainstorming and using engineering software to solve design challenges that prioritise quality, cost-effectiveness and safety, whilst ensuring compliance with relevant design standards and regulations.
Ultimately, my objective is to facilitate effective communication, streamline processes and contribute to the overall success of our projects by delivering excellence in every aspect of my role.
My graduate programme decision
I chose the graduate programme at SYSTRA because it aligns perfectly with my current and future goals. My primary focus is on developing a global understanding of highway design and build, whilst also understanding the disciplines it cuts across. I have a qualification in B.Eng., pursued an MSc in Intelligent Transport Planning & Engineering, and have experience in highway design and construction.
The graduate programme provides the ground to deepen my knowledge and explore an international perspective on engineering. To ensure SYSTRA was the right fit for me, I did extensive research to all the possible routes, and to make sure I matched the job description. Additionally, I studied several projects the company had worked on in the past and present, including the locations, to assess compatibility with my interests and skills.
I also examined the profile of current and past employees of SYSTRA to assess and evaluate growth opportunities within the company. Based on my findings, I firmly believe that SYSTRA is the perfect fit for my career.
