Gareth Dennis, Principal Engineer (Track) at SYSTRA, has won the first ever Young Rail Professional (YRP) Distinguished Service Award.
Gareth, who joined SYSTRA at the end of 2023, was recognised for his resolute commitment to the rail industry and specifically for the profound, positive, and lasting impact he has had on young rail professionals. His passion and enthusiasm for all things rail are well-known across the sector through his weekly #Railnatter podcast and as a regular national press rail commentator, but not only that Gareth is a skilled track engineer with over 10 years’ experience.
He picked up the accolade at the YRP’s 14th prestigious annual dinner and awards ceremony at London’s Troxy Theatre, where he also acted as host.
It was already a privilege to be asked by the Young Rail Professionals (YRP) organising team to host this year’s awards, but to then be nominated – and win – their first Distinguished Service award is a real honour.
