BG&E, now part of SYSTRA, is providing structural and civil engineering services for New Melton Hospital, a major healthcare development in Melbourne’s outer west.
Delivered through a public-private partnership between the Victorian Government, represented by the Victorian Health Building Authority, and Exemplar Health Consortium, the hospital will expand healthcare capacity for the growing communities of Caroline Springs, Rockbank, Melton, Bacchus Marsh and Gisborne.
A comprehensive healthcare facility
The new hospital will provide 395 points of care, including 274 beds. It will include a 24-hour emergency department and intensive care unit, maternity and neonatal services, mental health services, radiology and ambulatory care.
Approximately 1,000 parking spaces will also be provided for patients, visitors and staff.
Designed for future growth
To help the hospital respond to future demand, the design team is contributing to a masterplan that allows for future flexibility and expansion for Western Health, the public health service that will operate the hospital.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2029, expanding access to healthcare services for communities across Melbourne’s growing west.
