SYSTRA has won a contract on the Toulouse Aerospace Express project
In early May 2016, SYSTRA and Richez Associés were awarded the contract to carry out the preliminary technical studies for the Toulouse Aerospace Express (TAE) by Société de Mobilité de l’Agglomération Toulousaine (SMAT).
The TAE project, whose contracting authority is SMTC-Tisséo (the Toulouse public transport body), consists of building a new metro line between the Airbus Colomiers industrial site in the west of Toulouse and Airbus Defence & Space in the south-east, passing through the centre and linking with other major routes (metro line A and line B, tram lines T1 and T2, the Urbain Sud cable car, Matabiau station and Blagnac airport). The project is expected to cost around €1.7 billion.
The technical studies that SYSTRA has been contracted to carry out will involve further work on the feasibility studies conducted jointly by SMTC-Tisséo, SMAT, Toulouse Métropole and the Toulouse urban development agency in 2015, and detailed preliminary technical studies on every aspect of the infrastructure (stations, tunnels, viaducts, etc.) and systems (operating mode, safety and security, etc.). SYSTRA has all the infrastructure and metro system expertise needed to complete these studies effectively.
