We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Modeller to join our Engineering team.  This position within our M&E engineering team will suit a committed and ambitious modeller who can demonstrate good management of workload, communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to play their part in a dynamic high-performance team.

 

The Modeller will work with, and lead, a team of other modellers and engineers producing and delivering the electrical and mechanical design of allocated M&E Projects as instructed by the projects Lead M&E Engineer and/or the Senior Modeller/CAD Manager.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Lead CAD/ Modelling teams as directed, ensuring Client commitments are met.
  • Maintain a good knowledge of Microstation Connect and other product designs relevant to your work and apply it in a range of situations.
  • Deliver a portfolio of projects to the required quality, time and budget, showing self-checking, with minimum input by others.
  • Have a positive attitude towards checking and quality. Monitor project and team performance against CAD/Modelling standards and quality requirements, taking necessary corrective action.
  • Plan and prioritise tasks effectively for yourself and other team members with minimal input by others, Reporting back on progress and delivering on commitments you have made.
  • Understand the relationship between hours worked and project cost, budgets and commercial pressures.
  • Monitor your project’s progress against costs and programme.
  • Proactive in leading, coaching and mentoring junior technicians and apprentices.
  • Contribute to development of staff to ensure the skills are available within the team to meet business objectives.
  • Support and contribute to the training of staff.
  • Contribute information on staff performance to the appraisal process and via other methods.
  • Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your team and other stakeholders.

 

Profile/Skills

Essential

 

  • A high level of ability in a CAD/Modelling using the Bentley suite and system relevant to the team’s work and able to give comprehensive guidance to others.
  • A high level of ability in applying procedures and standards that apply to CAD/Modelling and able to give comprehensive guidance to others.
  • Knowledge of other Modelling platforms and tools related to Digital Engineering.
  • Experience of using data management systems.
  • Experience of safety standards and CDM regulations and a track record of applying them, showing and ability to identify and mitigate hazards in designs.
  • Experience of electrical and/or mechanical engineering design principles and standards.
  • Experience of working with contractors in a design and build environment.
  • Experience within the rail sector covering a broad range of design challenges at different stages of design development.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.

Desirable

  • Experience of using other CAD/BIM modelling products such as Bentley software/ Microstation Connect, Openbuildings etc, Autodesk
  • Experience of Projectwise
  • Ability to travel to other offices when required
  • Experience of construction principles and standards.
  • Knowledge of the transportation sector.
