Talgo to revamp 50 rail cars for the American company Metrolink, in southern California.

SYSTRA Canada has unique know-how in turnkey solutions for the renovation of rolling stock. This expertise was chosen by Metrolink, which operates southern passenger lines in California.

With Talgo, SYSTRA is working to improve the reliability and appearance of their existing fleet (50 rail cars ordered, a further 71 optional), complying with current standards and regulations, for the benefit of passengers and their comfort. All the components of the cars will be renovated and modernised, including the control voltage and battery system, lighting, passenger communication system, heating system, ventilation and air-conditioning, door operators and controls, repainting of the exterior, seat cushions, and floor coverings.

All the renovation work is carried out at Talgo’s facilities in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The delivery of the first cars to Metrolink is expected 450 days after Notice to Proceed.

SYSTRA’s rail renovation activity includes many projects in North America. The teams of the Rolling Stock business unit at SYSTRA Canada are working on various improvement projects of rolling stock, including the refurbishment of 2-level coaches for the prestigious Rocky Mountaineer’s GoldLeaf Service range in Canada, and the procurement of a new fleet for VIA Rail (Canada).
