Context

Systra is seeking a Commercial Management specialist to join the team for a Rail & Transit project in Toronto. 

Missions/Main Duties

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for managing the detailed day-to-day tasks and streamlining the commercial management processes:

  • Support the Commercial Team in the delivery of the commercial objectives for the project.
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships, developing mutual trust and understanding with the client and contractor.
  • Support in the definition of Allowable Costs, assessment of incentive reward payments, and verifying eligible costs.
  • Control, manage, and report contractual obligations from procurement to final account, including contract administration involving Early Warnings and Change Control.
  • Support aspects of contract administration, including payment certification, reconciliations, cost reporting, change management and reporting on progress.
  • Training and development, mentoring of junior staff
  • Supports teams understanding of the Contract.
  • Liaison with the Independent Certifier on Payment Certification.
  • Support to Control, manage, and report contractual obligations, including contract administration involving Early Warnings and Change Control.
  • Participates in the evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs.
  • Support aspects of contract administration, including payment certification, reconciliations, cost reporting, change management and reporting on progress.

Profile/Skills

Education: Degree in engineering, accounting, business administration, construction management, project management, or equivalent

Years of experience: Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in large infrastructure and rail transit projects with renowned construction or consulting company(s)

Technical competencies:

  • Experience with analysis, construction and design scope
  • Experience with change management and implementation within a production environment
  • Highly skilled in understanding the cost base and profit driver of a sophisticated Contracting organization
  • Proven track record in articulating complex construction issues and communicating concise positions to business directors and teams.
  • Skilled in Variation and claim analysis.
  • Potential leadership and employee engagement skills
  • Proficient in MS Office tools
  • Digitally competent.
  • Team player. Strong presentation and problem-solving skills

Personal & soft skills:

  • Dynamic leadership and employee engagement skills

The salary range of this role is between $120,000 - $145,000. 

The salary range provided below serves as a general guideline and reflects typical offers for this position.

It is not intended as a strict range; in certain situations, actual compensation may vary when justified.
