In 2021, SYSTRA was awarded a new design project for a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in São Paulo, in a consortium with local infrastructure engineering company EBEI.
The municipality of São Paulo called on SYSTRA to carry out preliminary and detailed studies for the São Paulo Aricanduva BRT corridor project. Located along the west bank of the river of the same name, this district of the megalopolis is currently poorly served. The BRT project, at the heart of the Urban Mobility Plan, is part of the programme of bus corridors in the East Zone of São Paulo.
TOWARDS IMPROVED MOBILITY IN SÃO PAULO’S EAST ZONE
The aim of the Aricanduva BRT corridor project is to increase the average speed of buses, in order to reduce journey times and operating costs, while improving interconnections with other transport services, in particular rail, metro and cycle path networks, and offering passengers a better quality of service.
