What is your role?

I am a Senior Consultant for SYSTRA ANZ in New Zealand. Working in the Rail Systems team, I support clients in their Signalling activities. My role is typically broad an a typical day could include reviewing design, providing technical advice, and participating in the testing and commissioning phase.

What do you do at SYSTRA?

Prior joining SYSTRA ANZ, I worked for Hitachi Rail for nearly a decade in the Test and Commissioning Department. I was involved in several projects, both High Speed Lines and Driverless Metros, in different parts of the world with a special focus on modern railway technologies such as ERTMS and CBTC.

What I love about railway is the fact that it is a field that keeps evolving by introducing and applying new technologies. You never know enough and there is always room to learn!

Being in Test and Commissioning gave me the opportunity to interact with these complex systems in real situations.

What are the 3 important qualities or skills in your job?

As a consultant, I would say that the 3 most important qualities are:

  • Transparency

Being transparent with the Client is the main key to build trust and maintain it.

  • Adaptability

A consultant needs to adapt quickly to a new work environment: understand the client’s need, apply the process followed, join and integrate the team.

  • Eager to learn

Railway is a field subject to changes and evolution. We must keep up with the technologies and broaden our knowledge to give the client the best possible support.

Why SYSTRA?

Working at SYSTRA ANZ means working in a connected team that is delivering excellence for clients across Australia and New Zealand. It is also an opportunity to work with passionate and skilled people coming from all around the world!
