The Sydney Metro West project will support a growing city and deliver world-class metro services to more communities. This new underground railway will connect Greater Parramatta and the Sydney CBD.

Challenge

Sydney Metro West is a new 24km metro line that will double rail capacity between Greater Parramatta and the Sydney CBD. The project includes faster, more frequent rail services, the delivery of new rail services for the first time at Burwood North, Five Dock, The Bays and Pyrmont, and fully accessible stations.

Project - Sydney Metro West

approach

Digital Engineering

For Sydney Metro West to achieve an effective level 3 (6D) implementation, SYSTRA ANZ has supported the development of Digital Engineering Strategy Plans, and their alignment with the Engineering, Design and Assurance Management Plan, and the latest TfNSW, Australian and international standards.

In addition, SYSTRA ANZ is overseeing and working with designers to support the integrated development of digital engineering deliverables, and the effective implementation of digital engineering on contracts. This includes:

  • The production of fully federated, interoperable, geo-spatially accurate CAD, BIM and GIS models.
  • The review of digital engineering deliverables to ensure the compliance with standards and to meet Sydney Metro West requirements across the project lifecycle.

Independent Certification Services

In a joint venture (JV) partnership with KBR, SYSTRA ANZ has been awarded an Independent Certification Services contract for Sydney Metro West. The JV will independently certify several work packages, including tunnelling, stations, integrated station development, line wide systems, trains, control systems, maintenance and operations through design, construction, and completion.

Benefit

Sydney Metro West will transform Sydney for generations to come, linking new communities to rail services and supporting employment growth and housing supply.

outcome

Sydney Metro is Australia’s biggest public transport project. By 2030, Sydney will have a network of four metro lines, 46 stations and 113km of new metro rail connecting Sydney’s northwest, west, southwest and greater west to fast, reliable turn-up-and-go services with fully accessible stations. The project will revitalise community spaces and enhance Sydney’s liveability and culture, providing better access to employment, health, and education centres as well as major sporting and entertainment precincts.
