Held every two years, InnoTrans brings together the entire global ecosystem of rail transport and mobility in Berlin. Nearly 170,000 visitors and around 3,000 exhibitors from some sixty countries take part in this exceptional event, which has become one of the sector’s leading meeting places.
For the 2026 edition, conferences, demonstrations, and discussions are taking place throughout the week at our stand around four topics that are already shaping the future of the sector: artificial intelligence, climate resilience, the digitalisation of rail testing, and the migration of communication systems.
AI, made in SYSTRA
The first major topic featured at the stand is artificial intelligence applied to engineering. Faced with increasingly complex projects and growing volumes of data and documentation, AI can help teams speed up certain analyses, better structure information, and improve decision traceability.
At InnoTrans, SYSTRA is presenting its approach to AI at the service of engineering, illustrated by several concrete use cases and solutions that have already proven their value.
Anticipating climate risks
The effects of climate change and the resilience of transport systems are also at the centre of discussions in Berlin. Heatwaves, floods, heavy rainfall, and storms are already affecting networks and their operating conditions. For infrastructure designed to last several decades, it is becoming essential to incorporate the future evolution of these hazards into today’s decisions.
At InnoTrans, SYSTRA is presenting its two digital solutions, Climateplus and ClimateViz, which make it possible to visualise future climate conditions and infrastructure vulnerability in order to guide design choices.
Digitalising rail project testing
Another solution presented this week is NeXway, a digital tool dedicated to the testing and commissioning phase, which is particularly critical for rail projects.
This stage involves numerous interfaces between systems, technical validations, safety requirements, and decisive decisions before the transition to operations. Efficiently consolidating field information and test results is therefore essential for coordination and traceability.
NeXway centralises data collected in the field, organises test monitoring, supports system engineering decisions, and enables teams to capitalise on the knowledge produced during the project. The solution is currently being piloted as part of a high-speed rail project in Egypt.
Preparing for the migration of communication systems
SYSTRA’s expertise is also being applied to the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS), which is expected to gradually replace GSM-R for railway communications worldwide starting in 2035.
This transformation directly affects the critical communications used for operations, safety, maintenance, and the management of rail infrastructure. It therefore goes far beyond the simple adoption of a new technological standard: operators and infrastructure managers must start preparing migration pathways today that reconcile interoperability, radio frequency management, cybersecurity, and operational continuity.

Throughout the week, the SYSTRA stand will be alive with conferences and demonstrations, featuring contributions from Amine Triki, Group Head of AI & Digital, Séverine Maréchal, International Consulting Director at SYSTRA France, Lovan Pushparatnam, Group Systems Director, and Cédric Chanteclair, NeXway Project Manager.
