SYSTRA to participate in the creation of India’s first high-speed rail line

SYSTRA has been selected by the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) to carry out, in partnership with DB, the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) contract for the systems of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed rail line.

SYSTRA to participate in the creation of India’s first high-speed rail line

The SYSTRA and DB Engineering & Consulting joint venture will carry out a PMC assignment for the deployment of railway systems on India’s first high-speed rail line, which will be 508 kilometres long. It will serve the main business and residential centres of Maharashtra and Gujarat.*

This contract reinforces SYSTRA’s status as a global leader in high-speed rail engineering. With references around the world and involvement in the design of one in two high-speed rail lines, we have all the expertise required to complete India’s first high-speed rail line between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. We are proud to contribute to this major project for the development of India, where we have been established for nearly 70 years.

This line will enable trains to connect Mumbai to Ahmedabad at an average speed of 250km/h and a maximum speed of 320km/h. Journey times will be reduced from 6 hours to 2 hours and 7 minutes, a reduction of almost three times. Our teams will work closely with the DRA Infracon-Siemens joint venture, which will supply the line’s system equipment.

Over 4,000km of future high-speed lines to come

With the Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed rail line, the Indian authorities aim to transform the travel experience between these two major cities. The PMC’s remit covers both the installation of signalling & telecommunications systems, real-time ticketing and control equipment (SCADA). These systems are essential to ensuring the safety and reliability of this high-speed line.

SYSTRA India has been involved in studies for the new-generation ticketing system for this line since 2024. In total, India is planning to build seven high-speed corridors, representing more than 4,000km of new lines.
