SYSTRA has reinforced its longstanding relationships with the national railway company EFE and the infrastructure and construction firm Sacyr with two new contracts awarded as part of Chile’s aim to create two direct rail services from the capital Santiago to Melipilla and Batuco in the Santiago Metropolitan Region.
SYSTRA awarded two new contracts for railway lines in Chile

These wins follow on from SYSTRA’s biggest ever project for EFE awarded in 2023 for work on the same railway lines. The assignments will be carried out in collaboration with teams from SYSTRA Ibérica & Hispanic America, and SYSTRA France.

Alameda Melipilla Train Project (TAM)

The project involves a 61-km line, covering 11 stations in 48 minutes. EFE estimates that more than one million residents will benefit from rapid access to Santiago thanks to this new line. SYSTRA Chile will carry out the detailed design studies for the tracks and catenary.

During this mission, we will carry out a track verification and provide our consulting expertise after the detailed design studies have been completed. These will cover:

  • the incorporation, for both track and catenary systems, of temporary track diversions and comprehensive BIM modelling using ISTRAM and Civil 3D software.
  • ensuring seamless coordination with Sacyr and EFE to optimise technical and economic aspects, actively managing interfaces according to the established Interface Management Plan.

We have a long history of effective collaboration with both EFE and Sacyr and we are pleased to have the opportunity to leverage the combined expertise of our teams to deliver innovative solutions for these railway projects which further reinforce SYSTRA’s reputation in Chile.

Santiago Batuco Railway Project (TSB) – Civil Works Supervision

For this assignment, SYSTRA will contribute to the Technical Works Inspection Service (ITO) and Project Management Support to:

  • supervise, inspect and control the correct and timely compliance with contractual obligations,
  • provide competent professionals to supervise the compliance of construction contracts that will be part of the scope of the service, ensuring that they are executed in a timely manner and that they comply with the applicable rules and regulations.

On this line, the 24-minute journey will serve 8 stations and a population of 590,000. The Consortium established between SYSTRA, Applus Ingelog (lead), a provider of engineering and project management services, and Consultrans, a consulting services firm in the Transport & Logistics sector, is the company that has been created to execute this contract.
