SYSTRA wins two more contracts for the city of Genoa, Italy

Already active in Genoa on two iconic projects, a metro extension design contract awarded in 2019, and an assignment to work on the city’s monorail in 2020, the teams at SYSTRA-SOTECNI are now working on the Project & detailed design management (including Interface management System – Civil works/MEP) and works supervision for the Brin-Canepari and Brignole-Martinez Metro Extensions.

Meanwhile, SYSTRA-SOTECNI is also working on the supervision and coordination of the detailed design for the execution of the new Trolleybus network in Genoa. The numerous tasks the expert teams will work on include supporting the client in the management of designers for both the Final Design and Detailed Design stages, Coordination and supervision of the design activities, and Assistance during testing and commissioning.

Genoa is an expanding city that represents an important market for SYSTRA-SOTECNI. I’m very happy that we have extended our local assignment with two Project Management Consulting (PMC) contracts. This is a sector in which we believe, and this is demonstrated in Genoa municipality’s appreciation thanks to past and present design contracts.

These new contracts confirm our leading position on the Italian metro/LRT market. A wide range of skills will be deployed on these projects involving 31 people on the metro assignment and 34 on the trolleybus network. We will work in close collaboration with our JV partners to ensure that the tasks are carried out to the highest technical standards and that our client will continue to place its trust in our abilities.

• Metro: Project & detailed design management and Works Supervision

  o The first section Brignole-Martinez is 700m long
  o The second section is 750m long from the existing Brin Station to the new Canepari station

  o Network length: 48km, of which 40.5km is new line and 7.5km existing line to be upgraded
  o Operated by 145 new trolleybuses

  o SYSTRA JV partners: RINA (Lead), SOT, Architecna
  o 12 terminus stations
  o 4 depots, of which 1 new and 3 to be renewed be renewed
  o 2 parking spaces
  o 17 substations
  o Duration of assignment: 30 months
