In November, SYSTRA celebrated the completion of a project to make a subway station in the Bronx, New York fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), on behalf of long-established client MTA New York City Transit (NYCT).

Bedford Park Boulevard Station has now been upgraded following SYSTRA’s contract as consultant construction manager (CCM), for which we oversaw the construction of three new elevators at the station on the B and D subway lines.

Congratulations to the NYCT and to the SYSTRA team on this important project to make this station accessible, safer, and more convenient for all passengers. We are proud to be helping NYCT expand accessibility of its subway system

Joseph Ligon, PE, who led the CCM team on this project.

Contributing to a bigger plan for New York’s transportation

In line with NYCT’s Fast Forward Plan launched in 2018, SYSTRA is a major contributor to the modernization of the New York subway, especially in the case of ADA upgrades.

In addition to winning the Bedford Park Boulevard Station project in 2018, we were awarded contracts for ADA accessibility at Greenpoint Avenue Station in Brooklyn, the Gun Hill Road Station, Dyre Avenue Line in the Bronx and, the following year, the ADA Upgrade at 149th Street Grand Concourse Station Complex and the IRT lines 2, 4 and 5, and in 2020 the Tremont Avenue Grand Concourse Station (B line).
