In 2018, SYSTRA planned and designed the West Kowloon Terminal (WKT) multimodal interchange in Hong Kong on behalf of MTR Corporation, ensuring its seamless integration into the surrounding area and transport network.
IMPROVING CONNECTIONS TO THE MAINLAND
The WKT is at the heart of the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) and is an international intermodal hub for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HK SAR). The high-speed train links the West Kowloon terminal to mainland China’s high-speed rail network, reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as the country’s southern gateway.

A WIDE-RANGING ASSIGNMENT
Working alongside partners Aedas, AECOM, and Buro Happold, SYSTRA’s assignment included Internal passenger-related facilities sizing and planning, including the Hong Kong & Mainland Customs, Immigration & Quarantine (CIQ) for arrival and departure passengers, connectivity within adjacent major developments, external road network, Public Transport Interchange, internal station traffic, and temporary traffic management during construction.
