The Nova Gate UCD Cycle Improvement Scheme at the Belfield Campus of University College Dublin (UCD), the country’s largest university, is served by a large network of cycle paths and equipment desiged by SYSTRA UK & Ireland.
The UCD scheme is part of the UCD Travel Plan launched in 2022 aimed at further improving cycling and walking access for the estimated 30,000 staff and students commuting to the Campus on a busy day.
PART OF A WIDER INITIATIVE TO RPOMOTE SOFT MODES
It is part of the wider Stillorgan Road (UCD Access) Cycle Improvement Scheme implemented by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and funded by the National Transport Authority.
UCD AWARDED FOR ITS CYCLE-FRIENDLY INITIATIVES
UCD has become the first third level institution in Ireland to achieve a Gold Level Certification as a cycle friendly employer. Awarded by the European Cyclist Federation (ECF) and issued by Cycling Solutions Ireland (the only EU-licensed Cycle-Friendly Accreditor operating in the country), the award recognises the significant investment that the University has provided to cater to its growing cycling community.
