Mobilised since 2020 for the relaunch of the Bologna tramway, SYSTRA has already contributed to the creation of the first three lines of the network.
A COMPLETE MAKEOVER OF THE TRAM NETWORK
The number of tramway projects in Bologna is set to increase as part of its Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), approved in 2018, the city council announced the following year that it wanted to have a complete network of almost 60km, with a total of four lines, by 2030.
These lines will replace the bus and trolleybus lines that are most heavily used, carrying up to 300,000 passengers a day. For the moment, only the Red and Green lines are underway.
SYSTRA ON ALL THE LINES
Our teams in Italy have participated in the following projects:
• 2021: design studies for the Red Line
• 2022: contract for the design studies for the Blue Line
• 2023: amendment to the contract for the Green Line to cover its design up to its northern terminus
THE GREEN LINE, A KEY COMPONENT
The Green Line is a key component in the network as it will connect with the hub of Castel Maggiore, which links to train and suburban bus networks as well as a park-and-ride facility.
