In order to keep pace with traffic growth and optimise operating costs, the public operator DSB (Danske StatsBaner) has opted for the full automation of its network and has launched the Future Copenhagen Rail Network Programme (FCRN Programme). The programme involves the migration of trains from GoA2* semi-automated control with driver to a fully automated, driverless GoA4 system, the highest possible level of automation. The result is greater flexibility, efficiency, and control of the value chain for the operator. And for users, new trains, improved safety, reliability, and regularity.

AN INTEGRATED JV OF EXCELLENCE TO MEET MULTIPLE CHALLENGES

DSB has selected the integrated COWI (lead) – SYSTRA – Parsons JV under a project management consultancy (PMC) framework contract. With our partners, we are providing the tender documents for the rolling stock and automatic systems, assisting in the choice of suppliers, and then supervising the implementation while maintaining the network’s operation.

Our team includes key roles within the organisation of the FCRN programme, demonstrating the strength of the SYSTRA signature. In addition, we will contribute to the creation of a new local public entity responsible for the operation and maintenance of the infrastructure and rolling stock, which will combine the tasks currently entrusted to the DSB operator and the infrastructure manager Banedanmark.

The JV’s team will work closely together, integrated within a common project office with the team of the project owner, DSB.
