A double success for SYSTRA in Denmark, which has been awarded new contracts by Banedanmark to support the development and modernisation of the country's rail network.

This confirms the dynamism of the local market and the solidity of the Group’s presence, one year after the integration of new local teams.

SYSTRA mobilises for the Femern line

SYSTRA Denmark is to support the completion of the Femern line modernisation project, one of the country’s most ambitious rail projects. Our teams will be working on the section between Ringsted and Nykøbing Falster, south of Copenhagen, drawing on a wide range of specialist expertise, including railway engineering, track works, signalling technologies, bridge and tunnel design, and power supply.

Once in service at the end of the decade, this new 115km line will be electrified, offer speeds of up to 200km/h and connect the Danish network to the rest of Europe, thanks in particular to the Fehmarn Belt tunnel. The latter will link the island of Lolland, in Denmark, to the island of Fehmarn, in Germany, over a distance of 18km. This will cut train journey times from Hamburg to Copenhagen to less than 3 hours, compared with around 5 hours today.

We are very pleased to be able to work again with our long-standing client Banedanmark on this project, which will considerably improve the interconnection of the Danish network with the rest of Europe, and Germany in particular, while meeting our clients’s sustainable development objectives.

New 4-year framework agreement with Banedanmark

SYSTRA Denmark has been awarded a 4-year contract for safety validation services. SYSTRA’s long experience and the expertise of our approved validators, in accordance with local standard QN983 Q no. 1554, have made this new success possible, which will enable us to check and validate railway interlocking systems. This will help to ensure the safe and reliable operation of part of the Danish rail network. This 4-year framework agreement follows a previous contract of the same duration.

We are proud to be part of this new framework agreement. When it comes to risk management, safety is at the heart of our priorities and, through this contract, we are participating in the history of railways in Denmark. We are also pleased that SYSTRA is part of the country’s new signalling programme, and that we can thus contribute to ensuring that rail infrastructures remain as safe and efficient as possible in the future.

Denmark, SYSTRA’s major growth driver and new base

Since the integration of new teams in August 2023, SYSTRA has changed dimension in Denmark. With over 300 employees now in the country, the Group has reached the size required to be the benchmark contact for rail engineering and mobility projects in the country.

Our latest successes in both safety and rail modernisation are in addition to the many contracts SYSTRA has won for Banedanmark, ranging from passenger information support to electrification of the entire network. SYSTRA Denmark thus confirms its status as a reference for the maintenance, upkeep and renovation of the country’s rail network.
