Context

SYSTRA Canada is looking for a mechanical engineer in systems integration to lead the integration and validation of mechanical systems for refurbished passenger cars. They will translate customer and regulatory requirements into qualified, manufacturable designs and ensure compliance by guiding suppliers, conducting reviews and analyses, and supporting on-site installation.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Define functional and design requirements, select materials/components, and prepare or validate 3D models to deliver qualified, manufacturable solutions for refurbished passenger cars.
  • Manage and support system suppliers through design and qualification testing, monitor progress, and present technical documentation at client design reviews.
  • Perform analyses and calculations to verify compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations; define test requirements and procedures.
  • Conduct design reviews; review and sign production drawings and material lists; participate in first article inspections and tests.
  • Lead studies and technical reports to resolve operating and reliability issues; develop manufacturing and installation instructions and provide on-site technical support.

Profile/Skills

Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

Years of experience: 10 years of experience with a minimum of 5 years in rolling stock with passenger vehicles.

Technical competiencies:

  • Knowledge of 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, Inventor or Catia.
  • Efficient with the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Industry experience or rail transport experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of FRA, APTA, AAR, SAE, ASME, CSA or Transport Canada rail vehicle standards will be considered assets.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English*
