On June 30, the Sanying Line opened to passengers on the New Taipei Metro, serving New Taipei City, the municipality that surrounds Taipei City, Taiwan’s capital. The opening marks the culmination of almost a decade of commitment for SYSTRA Taiwan.
Inauguration of Sanying metro line in Taiwan

SYSTRA contributing from the earliest project stages

Working with our long-standing local partner, CECI Engineering Consultants, SYSTRA Taiwan supported the delivery of the project’s core systems from design through construction and entry into service.

During the design phase, we helped develop the railway’s technical backbone, including signalling, power supply, platform screen doors, and system integration, while preparing construction tender documents.

During construction, SYSTRA reviewed the detailed design, checking that system designs and maintenance procedures complied with the applicable technical, safety and RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety) requirements. The team also supported technical coordination, system validation, and preparations for entry into service.

The opening of the Sanying Line is more than a new metro service — it is a promise of easier journeys, closer communities, and greater opportunity for the people of Tucheng, Sanxia, and Yingge. With the future extension to Bade set to link New Taipei and Taoyuan, SYSTRA looks forward to contributing our expertise to this next stage of Taiwan’s rail development.

Reinforcing connections and cutting journey times

The line connects Tucheng, Sanxia and Yingge, three districts of New Taipei City. At Dingpu, in Tucheng, passengers can now transfer to the Bannan Line of the separate Taipei Metro network, providing faster access to Taipei City.

The service is also expected to support urban and economic development across the three districts, while strengthening their connections to the capital.

An international team success

This opening was a shared SYSTRA achievement. Expertise from SYSTRA France, SYSTRA China, and SYSTRA Taiwan, along with the contribution of translation teams in Taiwan and Shanghai, ensured effective cross-border collaboration and smooth handling of multilingual technical documentation.
