We are seeking applications for the position of Social impact specialist for Urban Transport Infrastructure Project.

 

 

 

Missions/Main Duties

  • Lead and conduct comprehensive Social and Cultural Impact Assessments (SIAs) of the ropeway project, focusing on both local communities and affected ecosystems.
  • Evaluate the potential social impacts of project activities, including land acquisition, resettlement, community livelihoods, and cultural heritage.
  • Prepare detailed social impact reports outlining findings, recommendations, and mitigation strategies.
  • Develop, recommend, and monitor the implementation of mitigation measures to address identified negative impacts and enhance positive outcomes.
  • Ensure all social impact assessment activities and project deliverables comply with relevant national regulations and international standards (such as ADB, World Bank, or other donor requirements).
  • Integrate the results of stakeholder surveys, interviews, and public consultations into SIA documentation and project planning.
  • Facilitate meaningful engagement and communication with project-affected people, local authorities, and community representatives.
  • Provide expert advice to the project team on best practices in social safeguard management and risk reduction.
  • Support the project’s commitment to inclusive, equitable, and culturally sensitive development practices.

Profile/Skills

  • Master’s degree in social science, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in conducting Social and Cultural Impact Assessments for large infrastructure projects, with specific experience on ropeway or transport-related projects strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in land acquisition assessment, stakeholder engagement, and community consultation.
  • Sound knowledge of national and international (e.g., ADB, World Bank) social safeguards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
  • Experience working on international/multidisciplinary teams and in culturally diverse settings is preferred.
