Hafeet Rail, a railway connection of around 300km, will soon link the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman for the first time. SYSTRA teams from the UAE and Oman will be in charge of the Project Management & Engineer Consultancy (PMEC), which involves managing and supervising the implementation of the Project for our client, Hafeet Rail.

This contract was one of our must-wins for 2024, and we are delighted that our bid has been selected. Congratulations to the bidding and project teams throughout the Middle East.
Jean-Christophe Chuniaud, UAE Vice-President, SYSTRA DB&I
This contract massively increases our footprint in Oman, hopefully opening the door for many more projects there.
Esmaeil Ghahremani, Oman Vice President, SYSTRA DB&I

This rail network between the UAE and Oman will improve interconnectivity between sea and land ports, production sites and key markets, and will support both countries’ efforts towards sustainability and carbon neutrality.
The Hafeet Rail link will connect to the Etihad Rail network, which serves all seven of the United Arab Emirates. The network will accommodate passenger trains and, above all, freight traffic.

Recently, Hafeet Rail announced that the construction contracts for the joint network have been awarded to an Omani-Emirati alliance led by Trojan Construction Group (NPC) and Galfar Engineering and Contracting. In addition, the system and integration contracts have been awarded to a joint venture between Siemens and HAC to equip the trains with the latest technologies, including the European Level 2 train control system.
SYSTRA, a strong presence in the Middle East region
In addition to our projects in the United Arab Emirates, SYSTRA is making a major contribution to rail programmes currently underway in the Middle East: The North-South line and Riyadh metro projects in Saudi Arabia, as well as the new high-speed network in Egypt.
