Open spark Challenge: All you need to know to participate
Who is the Open Spark Challenge aimed at?
The Open SPARK Challenge is aimed at all startups and mature scaleups, in France and internationally, that want to make an impact in infrastructure and mobility.
Why has SYSTRA opened the Spark Challenge?
The Open SPARK Challenge was created to complement SYSTRA’s innovation ecosystem by identifying high-potential external solutions.
The key benefits include faster access to mature solutions, strengthening our in-house expertise, and creating additional value for our clients.
How is the selection made?
Startups can apply on a platform until 19 April, after which an internal jury will preselect up to 10 startups, which will then be put in touch with the Group’s Business Units concerned by the proposed solutions.
What types of solutions are you looking for?
We invite startups to propose solutions in four main areas:
- Sustainable solutions and the environment
- Digital & AI for engineering
- Predictive asset maintenance
- Innovative products for mobility engineering
What are the benefits for the selected startups?
The Open SPARK Challenge enables selected startups to maximise the commercial impact of their solution and adapt it to SYSTRA’s business lines.
They receive end-to-end support: exploring use cases with SYSTRA teams, promoting their solution within the Group’s networks and increased visibility for winning projects to accelerate adoption. The three winners will have the opportunity to present their solution to SYSTRA’s Executive Committee.

SPARK, SYSTRA’s intrapreneurship programme, will be held in parallel with the Open SPARK Challenge, now in its fourth edition. It identifies, structures, and incubates the best ideas from employees to reinvent our practices and accelerate innovation at SYSTRA.
It has already generated nearly 300 ideas from teams of employees around the world. More than 80 intrapreneurs have been incubated and more than 10 projects have been deployed to improve the way we work or to offer new services to our clients.
