Driven by the determination of the Monegasque authorities to take concrete action in addressing congestion issues, the ‘Operation La Brasca’ refers to the future underground and automated express link between the area known as ‘La Brasca,’ located between the French municipalities of Èze and La Turbie, and the Principality of Monaco.
SYSTRA’s success in Technical Assistance for Project Management (ATMO) with the Société des Grands Projets for the West and East line 15 has convinced the princely government to entrust us with the ATMO of this strategic project.
Access to the City-State is saturated on a daily basis, especially due to the numerous cross-border workers: the train station in Monaco is the second busiest station on the French Riviera, with over 8 million travellers per year, and 15,000 cars travel daily on the road network to reach Monaco from the west. The aim of this connection is to provide efficient and sustainable access to the Principality, with travel times competitive to those by car.
We will assist the Monegasque authorities in managing this project, from defining the high-level requirements for its design, operation, and maintenance, to selecting the consortium, all the way through monitoring the design and implementation of this cross-border transport system.

Operation La Brasca will mobilise a very wide range of skills and expertise, and SYSTRA France is one of the few engineering companies to bring them all together. The Principality of Monaco needed a consultant to support it at every stage of the project, and we are proud to have been selected to do just that. This cross-border mini-metro could become a showcase for projects to relieve congestion in urban centres.
