This 24-kilometre tramway will become a major link between downtown Gatineau and Ottawa, Canada’s capital.
Sustainable mobility and a connected future
In collaboration with the architectural firms Richez_Associés and Provencher Roy, the Groupe Porteur is proud to participate in this major public transit project, which will improve mobility and connect communities by providing transformative and sustainable solutions. As part of this contract, the Groupe Porteur will support the TramGO Project Office throughout all phases of the Gatineau-Ottawa tramway project. The project will be carried out in three phases: technical and environmental studies, procurement, construction supervision and commissioning tests.

The Groupe Porteur will live up to the trust placed in it by the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) by awarding it the contract for the Gatineau-Ottawa tramway. We will be mobilising our best talents to support the STO in this major project. Together, we are committed to offering residents an efficient, sustainable and innovative transport system that is perfectly integrated into the urban environment of the cities of Gatineau and Ottawa.
Samuel Derosiaux, Executive Vice President, Transport, SYSTRA Canada
The Gatineau-Ottawa tramway is much more than a transport project. It embodies an ambitious vision of sustainable mobility, modernization of facilities and development of the sector’s urban fabric. Together with the Groupe Porteur, we are proud to be contributing to a project that will shape the future of this dynamic region. Behind this project are several members of our multidisciplinary teams, in particular experts in urban planning, whose strength lies in their local presence.

SYSTRA in Canada
Based mainly in Montreal since 1990, SYSTRA Canada has built up a wealth of experience in urban projects, including the modernisation of the Toronto and Montreal metros, engineering for CDPQ Infra for the Eastern REM, and the GO Expansion and Toronto metro extension programmes managed by Metrolinx.
From 2018 to 2024, our teams were also involved in the construction of the Quebec City tramway, a major urban transformation for the capital of ‘La Belle Province’ and one of the country’s leading tramway projects.
