Context
The position requires the analysis and design of civil related works which may include hydrology (evaluation of flood risk and the design of flood mitigation systems), roads and drainage for Systra projects.
Missions/Main Duties
Hydrology: |
· Study the vicinity of the project site for topography using provided topographic maps or as may be derived from available online geographic information systems; · Obtain relevant rainfall intensity data and calculate the volume of rainfall runoff affecting the project site. Calculation may be made through manual / electronic worksheets or use of specialized software (HEC-HMS or similar); · Calculate flood depths over the project area through manual / electronic worksheets or use specialized software (HEC-RAS or similar); · Review the adequacy of existing drainage systems to handle the rain runoff and recommend and design any drainage improvements; · Coordinate with other disciplines to develop a comprehensive rainfall drainage solution to the project site; · Instruct draftsmen to develop layout and detail drawings; · Develop the drainage design report; · Perform design revisions as may be directed; · Attend design workshops and reviews, or physically visit the project site as may be required; and · Attend training and seminars as may be beneficial to perform tasks.
Road and Drainage: · Prepares road design drawings for clients; · Designs and modifies roadway railway plans using Civil 3D and other applicable software; · Analyzes survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic data; · Reviews design plans for road works and make appropriate changes as necessary; · Provides solutions to technical design challenges; · Collaborates with various teams, across the organization; and · Improves and promotes professional standards in road engineering design. |
Profile/Skills
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hydrology and drainage design
- Knowledgeable in AutoCAD. Knowledge of Civil 3D and Revit an advantage
- Knowledge of flood analysis software (HEC-HMS/RAS or similar) an advantage
- Effective oral and written communication skills is a must
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering preferably major in water resource engineering
- Master’s Degree is an advantage
