The Local Transport Summit 2025, taking place November 18-19, is a unique two-day residential event conducted under ‘Chatham House Rules’. It provides a relaxed environment for senior figures in UK local transport to convene, exchange insights, and tackle the sector’s biggest challenges.

The focus for this year’s event:

  • Drive real change – gain insights, strategies, and practical takeaways to help your region deliver smarter, more integrated transport solutions.
  • Shape the future – discover how England’s new Strategic Authorities are transforming local transport and public services.
  • Learn from the experts – hear from government leaders, transport planners, and policy specialists on tackling the big challenges ahead.
  • See it in action – explore the East Midlands Mayoral Combined Authority’s plans and Derby’s role as the new Great British Railways HQ.
  • Connect and collaborate – join interactive panels, roundtables and networking sessions with transport leaders from across the country.

At 13:00 on November 18, our Associate Director Martin Campbell will be leading a presentation during the ‘Provocations: Facing up to the challenges ahead’ session on The road to 2050 – some guiding thinking for the next 25 years.

The impacts of climate change, AI and automation, and political populism continue to gather steam as we head into Q2 of the 21st century. Trying to deal with the rolling crises of macrotrends and ‘megathreats’, on almost a daily basis, is no easy task. We must take a step back and gain focus on what’s really important to us – as an industry and as individuals. During his presentation, Martin will ask: What kind of world do we want to live in? Can we get there, and if so, how do we make it a reality?
