Missions/Main Duties

The Field Survey Coordinator will provide field coordination, oversight, and quality control, operating under the direction of a technical manager or discipline lead. The role focuses on planning and supervising field survey activities while reviewing, validating, and analyzing completed field work to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards.

 

Field Survey Coordination

  • Plan and coordinate survey field activities based on operational needs and priorities.
  • Organize mobilization of field personnel, equipment, and logistics.
  • Act as the primary coordination point between technical teams, field personnel, and management.
  • Ensure survey activities comply with applicable standards, including provincial transportation, professional, municipal, and internal procedures.
  • Support short-notice and peak-demand field requests through rapid coordination and deployment.

Quality Control & Review

  • Perform quality control reviews of completed field survey work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Analyze survey methods, field procedures, and outputs to confirm compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify discrepancies, data gaps, or non-conformities and coordinate corrective actions with field resources.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to field personnel to improve data quality and efficiency.

Field Oversight & Support

  • Support continuous improvement of field survey practices and workflows.
  • Provide on-site or remote coordination and oversight as required.
  • Ensure proper availability, readiness, and utilization of surveying equipment.
  • Monitor field progress and address issues related to access, safety, scheduling, and resource constraints.
  • Support health and safety compliance during field operations.
  • Coordinate field activities outside the Montréal region as required.

Profile/Skills

Education: DEC or DEP in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.

 

Years of experience: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in field surveying, field coordination, or survey quality control review.

 

Technical competencies:

  • Strong understanding of field surveying operations and quality control principles.
  • Experience with survey equipment, including total station, GNSS/GPS, electronic level, and 3D scanning technologies.
  • Experience coordinating survey crews and performing quality assurance and quality control reviews is an asset.
  • Background in consulting engineering or large infrastructure environments is an asset.
  • Familiarity with advanced survey technologies, including terrestrial laser scanning, mobile laser, LiDAR, and UAV/drone surveys, is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • ASP Construction Safety Card.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English*
