Senior Consultant - Systems Engineering

Context

The Senior Consultant - Systems Engineering will play a vital role in leading complex engineering activities for our Defence clients, providing expert technical guidance, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting both stakeholder engagement and the professional development of engineering teams.

A NV1 Defence Security Clearance is essential for this role. This is a Canberra based role.

Missions/Main Duties

About the role:

Perform complex engineering activities, including engineering change proposals (ECPs), configuration control boards (CCBs), and support system working groups (SSWGs).
Liaise with stakeholders and manage contractors to obtain or provide engineering advice.
Exercise assigned engineering authorities and comply with technical regulatory delegations in accordance with relevant management systems.
Apply engineering judgment to identify issues and uncertainties, incorporating these considerations into planning, decision-making, and priority setting.
Provide expert advice and recommendations for the advancement of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and regulations.
Assess and review technical and design packages, plan and scope activities, provide recommendations, and contribute to implementation.
Evaluate delivered materials and ensure compliance with requirements, policies, legislative, and regulatory frameworks.
Monitor and address safety considerations within engineering change management processes.
Manage team and work area workflows and resources, prepare work plans with measurable outcomes and milestones.

Profile/Skills

About you:

Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering processes and activities in sustainment in Defence.
Experience liaising with multiple stakeholders and managing contractor relationships effectively.
Proven capability in exercising engineering authority and operating within regulatory frameworks.
Strong analytical skills for identifying and addressing engineering issues and uncertainties.
Proficiency in providing technical advice and recommendations for process and technical improvements.
Experience assessing, planning, reviewing, and implementing actions for technical packages and engineering tasks.
Ensuring compliance of deliverables with relevant requirements, regulations, and safety standards.
Team leadership experience, including mentoring engineers, fostering teamwork, and maintaining positive working relationships.
Resource and workflow management, including preparation and monitoring of work plans.
Defence Security Clearance of up to at least NV1
