Context

Our Asia System Engineering Centre is a hub of railway systems expertise, dedicated to delivering exceptional projects both within Asia and on an international scale. As a key Centre of Competency for the SYSTRA Group, we pride ourselves on our ability to manage and support diverse projects across the globe. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Signalling Engineer to join our team, contributing to our growth and enhancing our technical capabilities.

Missions/Main Duties

Within Asia’s Railway System Engineering Center, acts as a signalling expert and work-package manager in design, tendering or execution phase for SYSTRA’s domestic and international projects, remotely in back-office and on-site in South-East Asia for short-term front-office activities (fly-in / fly-out).

May also act as project manager or technical lead on rolling stock-dedicated projects, with the objective of ensuring that the results meet and surpass the customer’s expectations, are delivered on schedule and that project profitability targets are met.

 

Project Delivery

  • Studies: Conduct studies to define client needs and to elaborate solutions meeting their requirements (feasibility studies, concept design and tender design). Lead or participate in the design of solutions submitted to the client, including the preparation of reports and the preparation and validation of designs.
  • Tendering: Lead or participate in the preparation of technical specifications and tender documents for the acquisition of signalling & automation systems. Lead or participate in the entire procurement preparation process by providing assistance to the Client during the tender process, performing bid analysis and technical assistance to contracting.
  • Supervision: Provide assistance to the Client during the Procurement execution by performing design reviews, interface management, inspections during fabrication (including quality assurance/quality control), testing & commissioning (over both factory and on-site tests).
  • Safety: Monitor safety aspects and alert on any subject related to technical or personal safety.

Internal and External Relationships:

  • Maintains direct contact with the client for the workpackage related topics, ensures client satisfaction and proactive follow-up
  • Interacts with other departments within the organization as well as with clients and suppliers in a professional way.
  • Fosters effective teamwork within SYSTRA project teams in Asia and Signalling Technical Network from SYSTRA Group worldwide.

Profile/Skills

Education: A bachelor’s degree, preferably in electrical or IT engineering, is the minimum requirement for this position.

 

Years of experience: Minimum of 15 years total experience in signalling & automation projects.

 

Technical competencies:

  • Relevant experience in urban signaling projects, including urban rail projects in Malaysia or Indonesia
  • Knowledge of urban rail signalling key subsystems, functions and related international standards (ATP, ATO, ATS)
  • Knowledge of system integration and interoperability requirements
  • Experience with driverless metro systems GoA3/GoA4 from design to testing & commissioning
  • Any experience in rolling stock integration with signalling systems is a plus

Personal & soft skills:   

  • English – International Professional Proficiency
  • Must be proficient at writing clear technical reports in English
  • Must have aptitudes for teamwork on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Must be able to work independently, sometimes under pressure to meet deadlines.
