SYSTRA Canada has a recognized expertise for structural repair and design of modifications.

a wide range of expertise

This includes a variety of passenger and freight vehicles, including bilevel coaches, locomotives, and ore wagons.  As an example, our engineering design for replacement of side sills on bilevel coaches included the engineering scope related to:

  • Methodology;
  • All Finite Element Analysis (FEA);
  • Temporary jacking;
  • Car unloading;
  • Reattachment of new sills.

SYSTRA Canada’s experience includes mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum carshells and we have conducted a wide range of corrosion repairs, wreck repair designs, shear plate analyses, and fatigue analyses.

FATIGUE ANALYSIS

The fatigue analysis is performed to ensure the safe and reliable operation of railway wagons, as fatigue failures can have severe consequences, such as derailments or accidents.

By assessing the fatigue life of critical components and structures, our engineers can identify potential areas of concern and implement appropriate measures to mitigate fatigue-related risks. It allows for informed decision-making regarding design improvements, maintenance schedules, and operational limitations, ultimately contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the railway system.
