SYSTRA Ltd has agreed its carbon net zero targets with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), further enhancing its commitment to sustainability in all areas of the business.

The targets will support SYSTRA’s commitment to becoming carbon net zero by 2050, and cover reductions in everything from office lighting and heating, to supply chain emissions.

They are:

  • Reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by FY2030 from FY2022 base year.
  • Reduce absolute scope 3 emissions by 25% by FY2030 from FY2022 base year.
  • Reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by FY2050.
  • Reduce absolute scope 1, 2 and scope 3 emissions by 90% by FY2050 from FY2022 base year.

SYSTRA has published a Carbon Reduction Plan which sets out the full details of the baselines and targets, and outlines some of the progress made so far.

Actions already taken include sourcing electricity from renewable sources wherever possible, integrating carbon considerations into significant purchasing decisions, and introducing policies to reduce emissions from car travel, such as EV car hire and purchase schemes.
