SYSTRA dazzled judges at the Institution of Structural Engineers' Midland Counties Structural Awards, leading to two wins for the Design Joint Venture with Mott MacDonald for work carried out on behalf of Balfour Beatty VINCI for HS2 Ltd.

Winning the Profession Award for raising design standards and inspirational work, the A452 Kenilworth Road Overbridge showcased how the team (working over 8 countries) worked together to deliver the longest and highest box structure on the entire HS2 project.

The M42/M6 Link East and West Viaducts were overall winners for the Process Award, with the design team impressing judges by minimising traffic disruption to two of Birmingham’s busiest motorways. A UK-first push and pull technique was used to launch the viaducts making up the complex Delta Junction.

Alan Eaton, Senior Technical Director, commented: “It was a wonderful evening showcasing the capabilities of the whole team and celebrating the innovative and collaborative approach that has been brought to life on the A452 and M42-M6 work for HS2.

“I’m proud that these awards reflect SYSTRA’s global excellence and connected teams approach, demonstrating how we work together collaboratively to develop sustainable solutions to overcome some significant technical challenges.”
