Context

The Rolling Stock Engineer will act as technical lead for rolling stock studies, procurement and maintenance projects as well as for rolling stock maintenance facilities design and maintenance equipment acquisition projects.

May also act as project manager on assigned rolling stock projects, with the objective of ensuring that the delivered results meet and surpass the customer’s expectations and project profitability targets are met.

Missions/Main Duties

• Lead rolling stock studies and design solutions aligned with client needs and project requirements.
• Prepare technical specifications, tender documents, and support procurement activities for rolling stock and shop equipment.
• Oversee inspections, testing, acceptance, and commissioning during equipment acquisition and delivery.
• Develop maintenance recommendations, design maintenance facilities, and specify workshop equipment.
• Manage project execution, prepare proposals, support client relations, and contribute to business development.

Profile/Skills

Education: An engineering degree, preferably in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering, is minimum requirement for this position. Membership in the ‘Ordre des Ingenieurs du Quebec’ is also a requirement. Any additional degrees in other disciplines such as administration, business or management would be an asset. 

Years of experience: Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in the design, manufacturing or maintenance of North American diesel freight or passenger locomotives, freight wagons and passenger rolling stock.

Technical skills:

• Proven experience in the functional design of rolling stock maintenance facilities.
• Ability to define and specify maintenance equipment based on operational requirements.
• Familiarity with light rail vehicles, electric locomotives, and track maintenance equipment is an advantage.
• International consulting experience related to rolling stock projects is an asset.
• An equivalent combination of relevant experience may be considered.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English*
