Context
SYSTRA’s Mobility & Railway Business Unit is anticipating future growth, with new metro projects. To support these potential opportunities, we are looking for an experienced Senior Signalling Engineer (Systems) to join our project teams and contribute to our mobility solutions.This role is to be based at Riyadh , Saudi Arabia.
Missions/Main Duties
- Provide overall leadership and technical management of the Design-Build Contractor’s CBTC signaling team to ensure successful delivery of the signaling system in accordance with project requirements, schedule, and performance objectives.
- Lead and develop the rail signaling team while promoting a culture of safety, continuous improvement, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Coordinate with the client, regulatory authorities, Design-Build Contractor, and other stakeholders to manage signaling-related matters and project interfaces.
- Participate in design review meetings and ensure compliance with signaling system specifications, requirements, and project objectives.
- Conduct technical reviews of signaling systems, including Automatic Train Protection (ATP), Automatic Train Operation (ATO), Automatic Train Supervision (ATS), and Automatic Train Regulation (ATR).
- Manage signaling interfaces and system integration activities with other railway disciplines and systems, including platform screen doors.
- Monitor and review signaling system design, implementation, equipment installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Support the resolution of technical, operational, and logistical issues related to signaling systems and interfaces.
- Review design submissions and provide recommendations to address critical design and integration challenges.
- Prepare technical reports, analyses, evaluations, and recommendations related to signaling design and project delivery.
- Monitor and report progress against project schedules, budgets, specifications, and performance requirements.
- Support the Programme Director in managing change, variations, risks, and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Promote value engineering initiatives and identify potential claims, counterclaims, and specification deviations requiring management attention.
Profile/Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 12 years of experience on large-scale infrastructure or civil projects with significant systems interface and integration responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience in rail signaling design, installation, testing, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of commuter or metro rail systems.
- Strong knowledge of Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC), Automatic Train Control (ATC), and trackside signaling systems.
- Extensive knowledge of metro signaling standards, procedures, and industry-recognized engineering software packages.
- Experience in design consultancy environments and contractor management, including contractual administration and correspondence.
- Proven leadership, stakeholder management, and commercial management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate within multinational and multidisciplinary project environments.
