Société Ferroviaire QC Rail S.E.C. mandated SYSTRA to supervise and lead pre-feasibility and feasibility studies. These were conducted to document the viability of extending the existing national rail network from Dolbeau-Mistassini to the Baie Comeau railway and maritime terminal over a distance of approximately 370 kilometres.

SYSTRA Canada acted on behalf of the client as the authorizing officer, technical consultant, and manager of these two phases of studies.

After drawing up the project specifications, SYSTRA guided and supervised the studies on the following matters:

  • Market study;
  • Conceptual/preliminary engineering (Infrastructure, maintenance facilities and rolling stock);
  • Social and environmental impact study;
  • Field campaigns (topographical, hydrological and geotechnical);
  • Analysis of operating models;
  • Financial analysis.
