Due to exo’s dynamic growth in ridership over the past 15 years, the infrastructure of the Multimodal Interchange Hub (MIH) needs to be enhanced.
The objectives of the mission were following:
- Rethink and improve accessibility on the Saint-Jérôme site while accounting for mobility components and increasing the range of services available to users;
- Improve the urban integration of this MIH to allow more fluid accessibility for soft modes and to better connect to the main generating nodes north of the hub;
- Improve and clarify connections with the main generating nodes along the axis of the former railroad line (public market, Gilles-Vigneault Theater, former train station, “P’tit Train du Nord” bike path).
SYSTRA Canada’s mandate included:
- Study the extension of Platform 1 and the upgrade of IT and ITS facilities;
- Promote public transit and active modes of transportation;
- Rethink the station and its connections with the city of Saint-Jérôme;
- Create a new platform-train link to increase accessibility for people with reduced mobility (PRM);
- Consider new signage;
- Optimize parking facilities;
- Make the project eligible for Envision certification;
- Drone survey of the site;
- Virtual visit of the premises.
