A brand-new tramway line is now available to passengers in the Paris region. Located between Antony and Clamart on the edge of the Verrières national forest, the line links rapidly urbanising areas with numerous business and employment centres, notably Plessis-Clamart and Châtenay-Malabry.
From La-Croix-de-Berny to the Jardin-Parisien terminus, this tramway replaces several saturated bus lines and provides a link to the RER B, the T6 tramway and the TVM (Trans-Val-de-Marne) bus rapid transit service. It also serves hospitals, sports facilities and administrative offices.
Congratulations to the teams working on this project! The inauguration of the T10 tramway is a further demonstration of SYSTRA’s ability to manage a project of this scale and to be involved at every stage, from the preliminary studies, which began 10 years ago, right through to complete project management. It is also proof of our ability to meet the challenges of our clients, whether it be changes to the route or the planting of trees, with over 1,000 trees planted along the route.

SYSTRA France at the forefront of tramway projects in the Paris region
Since the resurgence of tramways in the early 1990s, SYSTRA has been involved in almost all tramway projects in the Paris region. We are still involved in project management for three line extensions: T3b to Porte-Dauphine; T1 to Colombes; and T13 to Achères-Ville RER. We are also reconfiguring the terminus of the T2 line at Porte-de-Versailles, in preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games.
These projects provide us with the opportunity to offer our clients innovative technical solutions, from the sprinkler system on the T3, which won a Global Light Rail Award in 2021, to the re-use of existing railway rights-of-way or lines with the T4, T11 and T13 tram-trains, or the insertion and construction of lines in complex environments, such as the T7, which runs between Rungis market, Orly airport and the A6 motorway.

Enhancing Mobility in a major metropolis
Hyderabad is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Telangana in the northern part of southern India and is the fourth-most populous city in the country. The Airport Express Metro Line will connect to the existing Hyderabad metro line and will help commuters travel from the city to the airport. Hyderabad has long been known for its diamond mines.
This project is a great opportunity for us to build a strong relationship with HAML and demonstrate our Project Delivery capabilities and client-centric approach. We are pleased to be contributing to the improvement of mobility in Hyderabad.

SYSTRA serves the City of Diamonds since 2012
Hyderabad has already called on SYSTRA for its metro projects. After an initial feasibility study at the end of the 1980s for RITES, where we studied routes and traffic forecasts, SYSTRA was selected by the manufacturer Larsen & Toubro from 2012 to 2016 to carry out the design studies for the city’s first three metro lines.
This network, which will be in service between 2017 and 2020, is known for being entirely viaduct-based with all its stations above ground. However, this particularity will disappear by 2026 when the airport link is inaugurated: it will include the first underground station in the network.
Spanish Tunnel Engineering Company Subterra Joins SYSTRAThe acquisition of Subterra is also an opportunity to pursue our development in Europe, particularly in Spain and Portugal, where the transport and construction markets are being boosted by the European recovery plan. SYSTRA has been present on the Iberian market for over twenty years, notably in support of the modernisation of the Bilbao metro, but also on high-speed line projects. The Group’s ambitions in this region are reflected in the creation of a new subsidiary, SYSTRA Ibérica, which will cover the Spanish and Portuguese markets.
This will be SYSTRA’s third acquisition in this field, following the acquisition of the Italian company SWS in 2021 and the Australian company Bamser in 2023, both of which specialise in the design of tunnels and underground structures.

The International Road Federation (IRF Global*), gave this bridge the Achievement Award in the Quality Management category.
This prize, one of the most prestigious attributed in the roads sector, rewards the excellence of the bridge’s design, and especially the implementation of a quality management system throughout the design and construction phases.
The prize was given to the Design Joint Venture of engineering firms who designed the bridge: SNC-Lavalin, T.Y. Lin International and SYSTRA International Bridge Technologies.
The reward for a bridge designed to last
Built to last 125 years, the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge was designed for multimodality with four road lanes, two dedicated to buses and bicycles, but also a dedicated rail track and pedestrian pathways.
This longevity is guaranteed thanks to the technical solutions employed to withstand all weather conditions:
- High performance concrete was used to resist salt, abrasions, and temperature variations
- Stainless steel frame
- The asphalt is 90mm thick, 30mm thicker than the usual
This new award is in addition to the previous ones obtained for this bridge:
- The Honor Award presented by the California branch of ACEC, the American Council of Engineering Companies.
- The Honor Award from IABSE, the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering.
- The International Transportation Structure Award from the American Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI).
- The Schreyer Award, presented at the Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards.
Samuel-De Champlain: a record-breaking project
Designed, built and completed in just 48 months, thanks to the massive use of high-performance steel and concrete elements, the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge welcomes some 50 million cars, buses and trucks every year, making it one of the busiest bridges in North America, almost three years after its inauguration.
It is one of the widest bridges in the world, with a total deck length of 50 metres, linking Montreal to Brossard, crossing the St. Lawrence River over a length of 3.4km. The latest news is the arrival of the metro on its central deck arrivée du métro sur son tablier central: the automatic REM du Sud line links will link Brossard to Montreal’s Central Station by crossing the bridge in spring 2023.
La Grande Alliance: Feasibility Study for Phase 1Montreal, QC (April 20, 2021) – The Vision Eeyou Istchee Consortium (the “Consortium”), which consists of Stantec, SYSTRA and Desfor, with assistance from KPMG, has been selected by the Cree Development Corporation (CDC) to complete the feasibility study for Phase 1 of the La Grande Alliance’s infrastructure projects in northern Quebec. The study is part of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Cree-Quebec Sustainable Infrastructure Development Program in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay Region.
The Consortium will conduct a study to evaluate the feasibility of the following infrastructure, in close collaboration with local communities and in harmony with sustainable development objectives:
- Upgrades to the access roads linking the Cree communities of Waskaganish, Eastmain and Wemindji to the Billy-Diamond Highway;
- Upgrade to the access road between the Cree community of Nemaska and the Route du Nord;
- A railway line following, as much as possible, the Billy-Diamond Highway between the town of Matagami and KM257 of the Highway;
- The recommissioning of the railway line between Grevet (Lebel-sur-Quévillon) and Chapais;
- Trans-shipment areas along the Billy-Diamond Highway and the Grevet-Chapais railway corridors, specifically one located at KM257.
We are embarking on a journey that will mark the beginning of a new relationship between First Nations and how infrastructure and any development is planned on the lands on which they depend. The upcoming Feasibility Study is innovative in that Cree communities and land users will be the primary voice in contemplating and planning infrastructure with a view to promoting true balance between traditional activity and development. The Vision Eeyou Istchee Team understood the importance of ensuring that the vision must come from community members and land users and so we are excited to take the first step in imagining a brighter future for Eeyou Istchee with them.

This study aims to improve the communities’ quality of life through the expansion of the transportation network. It will be carried out with the utmost respect for the land and Cree heritage, and will integrate sustainable development practices.

The Consortium will make use of a wide variety of experts in the social sciences, heritage preservation, environment, railways, road engineering, bridges, transportation economics and infrastructure financing. The team will produce a socio-environmental study, market research, a technical feasibility study and an analysis of financing options and risks. A major onsite information gathering campaign and stakeholder consultation meetings are planned to identify sites of cultural and heritage significance and environmental constraints.

Grand Paris Express: SYSTRA Wins an Exceptionally Big ContractThis assignment, one of the biggest engineering contracts signed by the Group to date in France, confirms SYSTRA’s positioning as the signature team for transportation solutions.
Lines 15 East and 15 West are destined to play a key role in the Grand Paris Express. Together, they will serve 27 communes, covering a distance of 43 km, and should transport 1 million passengers per day. The technical project management assistance assignment will start in September 2019 and will continue until the commissioning of the two lines, scheduled for 2030.
The SYSTRA Group is proud and honoured to have been selected by SGP to contribute to this project of such importance to the inhabitants of the Greater Paris region.
