Context
Systra Canada is hiring for Geotechnical Field Technicians for Transit Projects in Ontario.
Missions/Main Duties
- Supervise geotechnical drilling operations including SPT and CPT testing, in-site geotechnical testing, soils strata logging and soil sample logging
- Conduct asphalt and concrete coring operations ;collect geotechnical soil and asphalt samples.
- Observe and record site conditions, drainage patterns and construction operations
- Support for laboratory and factual reporting teams
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver project objectives on time and within budget.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and health & safety regulations.
- Oversee field investigations, observe borehole drilling and asphalt/concrete coring, and
- Support inspection and instrumentation implementation as required during construction/pre-construction monitoring.
- Conduct site investigations and soil sampling
- Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater conditions
- Perform geotechnical analysis and interpret data
- Experience in completing peer reviews of technical documents and reports
- Draw on technical skills and expertise to design, install, and conduct ongoing maintenance of remediation systems
- Scope & Report preparation
- Maintain excellent client relationships in various industries
Profile/Skills
- 5+ years of experience conducting or supervising geotechnical field investigations, including knowledge of drilling/coring methodologies (SPT, PQ/HQ coring, CPT) and soil identification and sampling procedures.
- CET or CTech preferred.
- University degree in a related field of study such as Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology or Geology
- Highly technical abilities in environmental site assessment and remediation design, combined with a mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of risk assessment/remediation systems/techniques
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as advanced technical writing abilities
- Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and put forth creative solutions
