Detailed Design Consultancy (DDC) for Systems

Location
Bangalore, Karnataka, India

SYSTRA India (through Systra MVA Consulting India Pvt Ltd) is spearheading the electrification and systems design for the ambitious Phase 3 of the Bangalore Metro Rail Project. As the appointed Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) for Package EPDD-05, our team is responsible for the complete engineering and design of the Power Supply and Distribution, 750V DC Third Rail Traction, and SCADA systems. Coverage includes two major corridors—the 32.15 km Orange Line and the 12.5 km Magadi Road corridor. Moreover, this project is pivotal in extending high-capacity, sustainable transit to the western regions of Bengaluru.

Key features of the project

  • Comprehensive Traction Design: Engineering a robust 750V DC Third Rail system. It is consistent with Bangalore Metro’s existing infrastructure to ensure seamless interoperability and high energy efficiency.
  • Smart Grid Monitoring: Implementation of an advanced SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system for real-time monitoring and control of the entire power network. Consequently, this ensures maximum operational uptime.
  • Optimized Power Distribution: Detailed design of Traction Substations (TSS) and Auxiliary Substations (ASS). These substations manage load distribution across 31 new stations.
  • Multi-Corridor Scope: Delivering integrated systems design for both Corridor 1 (JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura along the Outer Ring Road). Also, we deliver for Corridor 2 (Hosahalli to Kadabagere).
  • Indigenous Excellence: Supporting the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by utilizing local engineering expertise. This approach delivers world-class transit technology tailored for the Indian urban context.
