SYSTRA India is at the forefront of maritime logistics transformation, providing comprehensive technical and project management support for India’s first indigenous Linear Induction Motor (LIM) based mobility demonstrator. This demonstrator is located at Deendayal Port (Kandla). Additionally, this pioneering project aims to revolutionize intra-port cargo movement by replacing traditional, congested road-and-rail transfers. The replacement will be with a high-speed, fully electric electromagnetic propulsion system. The project was developed in collaboration with TuTr Hyperloop (an IIT Madras-incubated startup). As a result, this initiative marks a critical step toward the future of “Hyperloop-inspired” logistics in India.

Key features of the project

  • Next-Gen Propulsion: Implementation of LIM technology, which converts electrical energy directly into magnetic thrust. This allows pods to move without traditional engines or mechanical traction.
  • High-Speed Efficiency: Designed to transport 40-tonne containers and bulk cargo (such as timber) at speeds of up to 200 kmph. This significantly reduces vessel-to-storage turnaround times.
  • Sustainable Logistics: A 100% electric, zero-emission solution. It aligns with the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @2047 visions for green, self-reliant infrastructure.
  • Seamless Scalability: The project serves as a “Technology Demonstrator,” providing the proof-of-concept required for further development. It supports the transition from physical tracks to full Magnetic Levitation (Maglev) systems.
  • Integrated PMC: SYSTRA provides expert Project Management Consultancy (PMC) and systems support. This ensures the prototype meets rigorous safety, reliability, and operational standards in a harsh maritime environment.
