The Mumbai Coastal Road Project North (Versova to Malad) is a crucial extension of Mumbai’s coastal infrastructure. It is designed to alleviate traffic congestion in the western suburbs and provide seamless connectivity from Versova to Malad. As part of the larger Versova-Dahisar corridor, this segment focuses on elevated roadways and advanced bridge structures to enhance urban mobility. It also seeks to reduce travel times and promote sustainable transport solutions.

Key features of the project

  • Elevated Roadway Segments:
    • Package A: Versova to Bangur Nagar – 4.54 km of elevated road, including double elevated sections. It also includes roads on stilts over coastal regulation zones (CRZ) to protect sensitive ecosystems.
    • Package B: Bangur Nagar to Mindspace Malad – 1.66 km, featuring advanced interchanges and elevated structures for smooth traffic flow.
    • GMLR Link Road: 4.46 km connector to the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road. It includes obligatory spans over major arteries like Linking Road, SV Road, and Western Express Highway.
  • Double Elevated Road: A 600m length section providing multi-level carriageways to handle high traffic volumes efficiently.
  • Basket Bridge: 100m span over Mogra Nallah, designed with an arched structure for aesthetic and functional appeal.
  • Cable-Stayed Bridges: Three bridges including two 300m spans and one 200m span. These offer robust support and minimal obstruction to waterways like the Oshiwara River.
  • Open Web Girder (OWG): 106m span structure
